Daryl J.W. Mackin, Founder and Executive Director
Mr. Daryl J.W. Mackin has been married for 21 years to his wonderful wife JoJo and he is a father of three; son Zachariah and twins Malakai and Nadia. Like many Americans, Mr. Mackin’s favorite past time is baseball. He has been coaching Little League baseball religiously since 1996.
Mr. Mackin is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Daryl has over 30 years of experience in the food service Industry. His Culinary career highlights include being the Executive chef of the prestigious Haile-Maile Restaurant in Maui, Hawaii and was also the Executive Chef of the Tarry-A-while Resort and Restaurant in Bridgton Maine.
In 1979, Mackin began his cooking career in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 6 years. Daryl had taught high school culinary arts for 18 years. In 2012 Mr. Mackin resigned from teaching to do A Soldier’s Child Foundation full time. (Read more)
Janell Wood (Secretary)
Dr. Wood has been an ASC board member since 2012. Janell is a native of the bluegrass state of Kentucky. She has lived in the middle Tennessee area for the past twelve years. A former high school teacher, Janell has over 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. She currently serves as the Director of Research and Development for Project for Neighborhood Aftercare, a nonprofit that provides afterschool programming for students in the metropolitan Nashville area. Janell is passionate about helping children and families particularly those who are forever connected to our fallen American heroes. She is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville where she serves a greeter. Janell holds both bachelors and masters degrees from Western Kentucky University and a PhD in Leadership and Policy Studies from Vanderbilt University.
Rodney Ellison (Treasurer)
Mr. Ellison has been an ASC board member since 2013. Rodney is originally from Clanton, Alabama and moved to Tennessee in 1987. He has lived in Murfreesboro for most of the last 25 years, where he completed an undergraduate degree in Finance, an MBA and a Master’s Degree in Information Systems all from Middle Tennessee State University. Rodney has worked in corporate finance for several large companies in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. In 2009, Rodney started his own financial consulting company and he presently consults with businesses in the area. After learning about A Soldier’s Child through his church, Rodney knew it would be a blessing to be involved and serve the families that have given so much for the country we love. Rodney, his wife Terri and son Ryan are all members of Christian Life Church in Murfreesboro. Terri is completing her degree in Occupational Therapy and Ryan is a Graduate Student at MTSU studying Accounting.
Mr. Fuchcar is ASC’s longest standing board member since the founding of ASC in 2008.
Steve has serve at all levels on the executive board. Steve is originally from Marietta, GA, moving to Murfreesboro in 1977 to pursue a career in accounting with the firm of Hall, Davidson & Associates, where he is now one of the partners. A proponent of community service, Steve is an active member of the Stones River/Oaklands Kiwanis Club and has served on the United Way board for many years. Having a passion for working with kids, joining the team atÂ A Soldier’s ChildÂ was a natural fit. Steve and his wife of 32 years, Heidi, have three children, Lauren, Brianna, and Josh, and one grandson, Chance.
Mike is Chairman and CEO of PayTek Solutions, Inc. and has 26 years of experience in the payment processing industry.
He graduated from Graceland University in Iowa and the Strategic Alliances Program at The Wharton School -University of Pennsylvania. He is married to his wife of 23 years Desiree, and has two daughters Hannah and Rylee who attend Providence Christian Academy where he coaches golf and serves on the Board of Directors. Mike attends World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, TN.
As a loving husband and father, Mike has a passion for ASC because of his profound respect and gratitude for the families that make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the extraordinary freedoms we enjoy as American citizens.
Charles Rose, Vice Chairmen
Mr. Rose has been an ASC board since 2013. Mr. Charles E. Rose, Jr. has been married to his wife Tonja for 28 years and he is a father of two sons, Jonathan and Chuck, and grandfather to Noah and Ella. In his spare time, Charles enjoys supporting his wife Tonja and her musical career where she has enjoyed charting success on the country and gospel charts.
Mr. Rose has an Electrical degree from The Apprentice school in Newport News,VA. He currently works as a Facilities Manager for Essendant Co. at the LaVergne TN location where he also serves as local chair for the Essendant Charitable Trust.
Charles serves as Vice Chair and helps manage the Database Management platform for A Soldier’s Child Foundation as well as shipping out gifts to recipient children on a monthly basis.
